Solihull road closures: almost two dozen for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Solihull's motorists will have 23 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Solihull's motorists will have 23 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And 12 of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 21 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

A45, from 8pm January 15 to 6am April 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42, junction 6 to A45 Stonebridge roundabout, carriageway closure and lane closure for HS2 works, diversion via National Highways roads.

A46, from 9.30am March 28 2022 to 4pm April 1 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 both directions stoneleigh junction, lane closures and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

A46, from 6am September 7 2021 to 11.59pm April 1 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, Stoneleigh, Narrow lanes and speed restriction for construction of new bridge.

M42, from 9pm March 23 2023 to 6am April 10 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions jct four entry slips, 24 hour lane closure for central reservation works.

A446, from 8pm July 23 2023 to 6am June 8 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A446 southbound, Biddles loop exit slip road closure, carriageway closure for barrier works.

A446, from 9pm November 25 2022 to 5am June 29 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound, link road from M6 jct 4A to M42 jct 8, closure of link roads for carriageway and traffic management maintenance works for HS2.

A446, from 9pm April 24 2023 to midnight, June 30 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 both directions Northway roundabout to Stonebridge road, lane closures for HS2 works.

M6, from midnight, August 15 2022 to 6am July 15 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 4A to 4 southbound and junction 4 south exit slip, lane closure for bridge construction works for HS2.

M42, from 9pm July 17 2023 to 6am July 19 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, jct six to jct seven, lane closures for installation of temporary safety barrier for HS2 works.

A446, from 9pm October 30 2023 to 6am October 23 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A452 / A446 northbound, Stonebridge to Biddles loop, 24 /7 Lane closure and splitter survey works for bridge demolition.

A446, from 9pm July 21 2023 to 6am February 28 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 6 to junction 7, M6, junction 4 to junction 4a northbound and southbound, carriageway, exit and entry slip roads, link road closures and lane closures for construction works for HS2, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

M42, from 11.59pm May 10 2023 to 5am March 7 2025, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, jct seven link to M6 northbound, lane closure with switching for construction works.

A446, from 2pm October 27 2023 to 6am March 31 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to junction 9. A45 eastbound and westbound, M42 to Stonebridge Roundabout, carriageway, slip and lane closures plus 24/7 lane closures, hard shoulder closure and narrow lanes for a new junction, diversions are using National Highways and local authority network.

A446, from 9pm January 24 2024 to 5am June 30 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, jct eight to M6 jct 4A link road, carriageway closure of link road for bridge installation works.

A45, from 5pm November 30 2023 to 6am June 30 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A46 both directions Leek Wootton to Festival Roundabout, carriageway, lane and layby closures and 24/7 verge works for bridge construction, diversion is via National Highways and local authority network.

A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

M6, from midnight, June 14 2023 to 6am August 1 2025, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions, junction 4 to junction 4A, Lane closure with switching and narrow lanes with speed restriction for construction of overbridge for HS2 scheme.

A435, from 8pm January 8 2024 to 6am August 31 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 3a to junction 6, 24/7 narrow lanes and speed restriction with carriageway, slip road and lane closures and hard shoulder running for improvements works, diversion via National Highways and Local Highway Authority network.

A446, from 9pm November 27 2023 to 5am December 10 2026, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 both directions jct 7A to jct nine and M6 both directions jct 3A to M42, Lane and carriageway closures for construction works for HS2.

And a further two closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A446, from 9pm February 2 2024 to 5am June 30 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, jct eight to M6 jct 4A link road, Weekend 24/7 carriageway closure of link road for bridge installation works.

A45, from 8pm February 12 to 6am June 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A45 eastbound, Eastway slip road to Stonebridge, carriageway closure for for construction works HS2, diversion via National Highways and local authority networks.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
