Road closures: dozens of for Solihull drivers this week

Drivers in and around Solihull will have 26 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And 14 of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 16 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M42, from 8pm April 29 to 6am May 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 both directions jct five to jct 6, Lane and carriageway closures for gantry removals.

• M42, from 8pm April 3 to 5am May 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions jct four to jct six, lane closure for drainage and CCTV works.

• A46, from 8pm April 17 to 6am May 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 both directions Leamington Road jct to Festival roundabout, Lane closures for drainage works.

• A45, from 9pm March 27 to 5am May 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A45 eastbound, Stonebridge roundabout to M42 jct six roundabout, lane closure, closing loop to Eastway for HS2 utilities works.

• A446, from 9pm April 24 to 6pm June 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 both directions Northway roundabout to Stonebridge road, lane closures for HS2 works.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am July 1 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• A46, from 9.30am March 28 2022 to 4pm July 31 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 both directions stoneleigh junction, lane closures and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

• A46, from 6am September 7 2021 to 11.59pm August 31 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, Stoneleigh, Narrow lanes and speed restriction for construction of new bridge.

• A446, from 10pm November 25 2022 to 5am December 19 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound, link road from M6 jct 4A to M42 jct 8, closure of link roads for carriageway and traffic management maintenance works for HS2.

• A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

• M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

• A45, from 9am August 29 2022 to 11pm February 29 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 / M42, junction 6 roundabout and approaches, traffic signals on roundabout for underpass construction works.

• M40, from 9pm January 9 2023 to 6am April 10 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, M42, junction 2 to M42, junction 5 and M42, junction 3A to M40, junction 15, 24/7 Lane three closure, narrow lanes and hard shoulder running with 50mph speed limit for Installation of central reserve concrete barrier, new technology, surfacing and road markings, and emergency refuge areas.

• M42, from 9pm March 23 2023 to 6am April 10 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions jct four entry slips, 24 hour lane closure for central reservation works.

• M6, from midnight, August 15 2022 to 6am July 15 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 4A to 4 southbound and junction 4 south exit slip, lane closure for bridge construction works for HS2.

• A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

And a further 10 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M42, from 8pm May 1 to 5am May 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 both directions, junction 5 to junction 6, carriageway closures for Structure gantry removal.

• A45, from 8pm May 2 to 6am July 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 both directions ct 3A to jct 7, Lane and carriageway closures for inspection survey for upgrading.

• A446, from 8pm May 2 to 6am May 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A446 southbound, Biddles loop, lane closure leading to carriageway closure for barrier works.

• M42, from 8pm May 5 to 6am May 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 both directions, junction 5 to junction 6, Weekend lane and carriageway closures for bridge demolition works.

• M42, from 8pm May 9 to 5am May 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions, junction 5 to junction 6, lane closure for construction improvement/upgrade.

• M42, from 11.59pm May 10 2023 to 5am March 7 2025, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, jct seven link to M6 northbound, lane closure with switching for construction works.

• M6, from 9pm May 11 to 6am May 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions jct four to jct five, lane closures for construction improvement/upgrade.

• A4097, from 8pm May 13 to 6am June 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, jct four to jct six, carriageway closure for construction improvement.

• A446, from 9pm May 15 2023 to 5am January 13 2027, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 both directions jct 7A to jct nine and M6 both directions jct 3A to M42, Lane and carriageway closures for construction works for HS2.

• A446, from 9pm May 15 2023 to 6am December 10 2026, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 both directions jct seven to 9 and M6 both directions from, junction 3A to M42, Lane and carriageway closures for bridge construction works for HS2.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
