Drivers in and around Solihull will have 26 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Solihull will have 26 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 16 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M42, from 9pm February 19 to 6am February 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 6 to 5, Lane closures for Technology repair.

A46, from 7.30am February 6 to 5pm February 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, Stoneleigh entry slip road, temporary traffic signals at top of entry slip on Stoneleigh Road to allow plant to cross, lights will be green until required.

A46, from 8pm February 14 to 6am February 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, Thickthorn Roundabout to Stoneleigh Road jct, Lane closures for, junction improvement works.

M42, from 9pm February 13 to 6am February 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions, junction 5 to junction 6, lane closures for construction improvement/upgrade.

A46, from 9.30am March 28 2022 to 4pm February 28 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 both directions stoneleigh junction, lane closures and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

M42, from 8pm February 16 to 5am March 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 6 to junction 7, lane closure for technology repair.

A446, from 10pm November 25 2022 to 5am April 29 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound, link road from M6 jct 4A to M42 jct 8, closure of link roads for carriageway and traffic management maintenance works for HS2.

A46, from midnight, January 4 2022 to 6am April 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, stoneleigh, short duration mobile working for narrow lanes TM maintenance using IPV and TM vehicle.

M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am July 1 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am July 26 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

A45, from 9am August 29 2022 to 11pm February 29 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 / M42, junction 6 roundabout and approaches, traffic signals on roundabout for underpass construction works.

M40, from 9pm January 9 2023 to 6am April 10 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, M42, junction 2 to M42, junction 5 and M42, junction 3A to M40, junction 15, 24/7 Lane three closure, narrow lanes and hard shoulder running with 50mph speed limit for Installation of central reserve concrete barrier, new technology, surfacing and road markings, and emergency refuge areas.

M6, from midnight, August 15 2022 to 6am July 15 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 4A to 4 southbound and junction 4 south exit slip, lane closure for bridge construction works for HS2.

A46, from 8pm February 20 to 6am February 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A46 southbound, Festival jct to Thickthorn and Stoneleigh southbound, entry slip road, Lane and slip road closures for inspection / survey works.

A45, from 8pm February 20 to 6am February 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 westbound, Stonebridge to M42 jct six, hard shoulder closure for construction improvement works.

A446, from 8pm March 6 2023 to 5am December 10 2026, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 both directions jct 7A to jct nine and M6 both directions jct 3A to M42, Lane and carriageway closures for construction works for HS2.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
