Road closures: dozens of for Solihull drivers this week

Drivers in and around Solihull will have 27 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And nine of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 13 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M42, from 9pm October 3 to 6am October 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, Lane closure for inspection/survey.

• M40, from 8pm August 15 to 6am October 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, M42, junction 3 to M42, junction 5, Lane closure Switching for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

• A46, from 9.30am March 28 to 4pm November 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, stoneleigh junction, lane closure and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

• A46, from midnight, January 4 2022 to 6am January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, stoneleigh, short duration mobile working for narrow lanes TM maintenance using IPV and TM vehicle.

• A46, from 11.59pm April 15 2021 to 11.59pm January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 at Stoneleigh northbound and southbound, 24hr lane closures for, junction improvement scheme.

• A46, from midnight, August 16 2021 to 11.59pm January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, exit slip at Stoneleigh Road junction, Lane closure on slip and No right turn restriction onto Stoneleigh Road for major scheme works on Stoneleigh Road.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am April 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am July 26 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

• M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

• A45, from 9am August 29 2022 to 11pm February 29 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 / M42, junction 6 roundabout and approaches, traffic signals on roundabout for underpass construction works.

• M6, from midnight, August 15 2022 to 6am July 15 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 4A to 4 southbound and junction 4 south exit slip, lane closure for bridge construction works for HS2.

• A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

And a further 14 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A446, from 9.30am October 10 to 3.30pm October 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 northbound, Little Packington to Coleshill, lane closure for off network local authority works.

• M42, from 8pm October 10 2022 to 6am January 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions jct four to jct 7a, lane closures for drainage works.

• M40, from 9pm October 10 2022 to 6am April 10 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, M42, junction 2 to M42, junction 5 and M42, junction 3A to M40, junction 15, 24/7 Lane three closure, narrow lanes and hard shoulder running with 50mph speed limit for Installation of central reserve concrete barrier, new technology, surfacing and road markings, and emergency refuge areas.

• M42, from 9pm October 10 to 6am October 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, jct four to jct five, lane closures with narrow lanes and single lane running for White Lining/Road Markings.

• M42, from 9pm October 10 to 6am October 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, jct four to jct six, lane closures for technology repairs.

• A446, from 9pm October 10 to 5am October 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound to M42 oth directions bjct 4A, Lane closure and link road closure for installation of temporary barrier for embankment works.

• M42, from 9pm October 12 to 6am October 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, jct seven to jct 6, Lane closures for technology works.

• A446, from 9pm October 13 to 6am October 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 4 to junction 6 including M42 Links onto the M6 northbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction improvement/upgrade.

• A45, from midnight, October 15 to 6am October 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to 6, Weekend carriageway and associated slip road closures for new bridge installation, diversion via A41 / A45.

• M42, from 9pm October 19 to 6am October 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 5 to junction 4, Lane closures for PVMS signage works.

• A45, from 8pm October 20 to 5am November 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A45 eastbound, Eastway, closure of Eastway from NEC westbound, access to A45 westbound, for delivery of bridge beams.

• A446, from 9.30am October 24 to 3.30pm November 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 southbound, from M6 jct four Roundabout to Biddles loop, lane closure for construction works HS2 works.

• M42, from 9pm October 24 to 6am November 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, jct four to jct 5, Lane closures for technology works.

• A446, from 9pm October 24 to 6am October 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 5 entry slip, slip road closure and lane closure on jct five roundabout for installation of temporary barriers.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
