Road closures: almost two dozen for Solihull drivers this week

Drivers in and around Solihull will have 23 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And six of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 16 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M40, from 9pm October 8 to 6am November 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions, junction 3 to M40 jct 16 and M42, junction 5, lane closures for construction improvement/upgrade.

• A45, from 9pm November 7 to 6am November 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 5 to A45 westbound, Airport link road, lane closure for construction improvement/upgrade works.

• A45, from 9pm November 7 to 5am December 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 eastbound, Stonebridge Island exit slip road, lane closure for utility works.

• A45, from 8am November 17 to 8pm December 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A452 Northway roundabout, lane closure for vegetation clearance works.

• M42, from 8pm October 10 2022 to 6am January 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions jct four to jct 7a, lane closures for drainage works.

• A46, from midnight, January 4 2022 to 6am January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, stoneleigh, short duration mobile working for narrow lanes TM maintenance using IPV and TM vehicle.

• A46, from 11.59pm April 15 2021 to 11.59pm January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 at Stoneleigh northbound and southbound, 24hr lane closures for, junction improvement scheme.

• A46, from midnight, August 16 2021 to 11.59pm January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, exit slip at Stoneleigh Road junction, Lane closure on slip and No right turn restriction onto Stoneleigh Road for major scheme works on Stoneleigh Road.

• A46, from 9.30am March 28 2022 to 4pm February 28 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 both directions stoneleigh junction, lane closures and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am April 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am April 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am July 26 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

• M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

• A45, from 9am August 29 2022 to 11pm February 29 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 / M42, junction 6 roundabout and approaches, traffic signals on roundabout for underpass construction works.

• M6, from midnight, August 15 2022 to 6am July 15 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 4A to 4 southbound and junction 4 south exit slip, lane closure for bridge construction works for HS2.

• A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A45, from 9am November 21 to 5pm November 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 both directions Eastway road and Middle Bickenhill Lane, multiway signals for construction improvements.

• M42, from 9pm November 21 to 6am November 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 both directions jct four to jct six, lane closures with closure of jct five northbound, exit slip road for removal of temporary barriers.

• A446, from 9pm November 24 to 6am November 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, jct five to jct 4, lane closures with closure of main carriageway including slip roads for relocating speed cameras.

• A446, from 10pm November 25 2022 to 5am April 29 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound, link road from M6 jct 4A to M42 jct 8, closure of link roads for carriageway and traffic management maintenance works for HS2.

• M6, from 9pm December 2 to 6am December 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, jct six to jct 4A, lane closure for white lining/road markings.

• A446, from 9.30am December 5 to 3.30pm December 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 northbound, Packington lane to A452 overbridge, lane closure for structural works.

• M42, from 8pm December 5 2022 to 6am January 21 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions, junction 5 to junction 6, lane closure for construction improvement.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
