Road closures: almost two dozen for Solihull drivers this week

Drivers in and around Solihull will have 20 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 17 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M42, from 9pm September 4 to 6am September 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, jct six to jct five, lane closure for technology repair.

• M42, from 9pm August 22 to 6am September 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction seven to, junction 6, carriageway closure for construction improvement/upgrade.

• A446, from 8am August 22 to 6pm September 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 northbound, from middle bickenhill lane to A452 overbridge, 24 hour lane closure for HS2 bridge works.

• M40, from 9pm August 22 to 6am September 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 3 to, junction 7 , Lane closure for inspection/survey.

• A46, from 11.59pm April 15 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 at Stoneleigh northbound and southbound, 24hr lane closures for, junction improvement scheme.

• M40, from 8pm August 15 to 6am October 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, M42, junction 3 to M42, junction 5, Lane closure Switching for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

• A46, from 9.30am March 28 to 4pm November 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, stoneleigh junction, lane closure and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

• A46, from midnight, January 4 2022 to 6am January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, stoneleigh, short duration mobile working for narrow lanes TM maintenance using IPV and TM vehicle.

• A46, from midnight, August 16 2021 to 11.59pm January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, exit slip at Stoneleigh Road junction, Lane closure on slip and No right turn restriction onto Stoneleigh Road for major scheme works on Stoneleigh Road.

• A46, from 6am September 7 2021 to 11.59pm January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, Stoneleigh, Narrow lanes and speed restriction for construction of new bridge.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am April 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am July 26 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

• M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

• A45, from 9am August 29 2022 to 11pm February 29 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 / M42, junction 6 roundabout and approaches, traffic signals on roundabout for underpass construction works.

• M6, from midnight, August 15 2022 to 6am July 15 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 4A to 4 southbound and junction 4 south exit slip, lane closure for bridge construction works for HS2.

• A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

And a further three closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M6, from 8pm September 5 to 5am September 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 3A onto the M42 northbound, J9, lane closures with lane switching for drainage works.

• M42, from 9pm September 12 to 6am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions jct six to jct five, lane closure for construction improvement/upgrade on behalf of skanska.

• M42, from 9pm September 19 to 6am September 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, jct four to jct 5, Lane closures for technology works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
