Road closures: almost two dozen for Solihull drivers this week

Drivers in and around Solihull will have 22 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that nine closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A46, from midnight, January 4 to 6am June 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, stoneleigh, short duration mobile working for narrow lanes TM maintenance using IPV and TM vehicle.

• A46, from 6am September 7 2021 to 11.59pm June 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, Stoneleigh, Narrow lanes and speed restriction for construction of new bridge.

• A46, from 9.30am March 28 to 4pm July 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, stoneleigh junction, lane closure and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

• A46, from midnight, August 16 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, exit slip at Stoneleigh Road junction, Lane closure on slip and No right turn restriction onto Stoneleigh Road for major scheme works on Stoneleigh Road.

• A46, from 11.59pm April 15 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 at Stoneleigh northbound and southbound, 24hr lane closures for, junction improvement scheme.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am April 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am August 9 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

• M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

• A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

And a further 13 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M42, from midnight, to 6am on June 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 5 to junction 4, lane closures for technology repairs.

• A46, from midnight, June 6 2022 to 6am December 1 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A46 from Leamington Road to Festival Island northbound and southbound, Contraflow with speed restriction in place for Viaduct Bridge Beams installation works for major Scheme.

• M40, from 8am June 6 to 6am July 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, M42, junction 3 to M40, junction 16, Lane closure Switching for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

• M6, from 9pm June 6 to 6am June 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 4 to junction 5, Lane closure for barriers - Permanent.

• M42, from 10pm June 6 to 6am June 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, lane closures for technology repairs.

• A45, from 9pm June 7 to 6am June 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 / A45, junction 6 roundabout and approaching slip roads, closure of roundabout for resurfacing works, including hard shoulder closures of M42 to close northbound and southbound, exit slip roadswith signed off network diversion.

• A446, from 8pm June 9 to 6am June 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 southbound, Biddles loop, Lane closure for new road installation for HS2.

• M42, from 8pm June 10 to 6am June 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 from, junction 6 to junction 7 northbound and southbound, lane closure northbound, with carriageway closure southbound, for works relating to major scheme.

• M42, from 9pm June 11 to 6am July 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 7 to junction 8, Lane closures leading to carriageway closures for carriageway resurfacing.

• M42, from 8pm June 17 to 6am June 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 from, junction 5 to junction 7 northbound and southbound, lane closure northbound, with carriageway closure southbound, for works relating to major scheme.

• M6, from 9pm June 19 to 6am July 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 6, Lane closure for White Lining/Road Markings.

• M6, from 8pm June 20 to 6am July 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 3 to junction 4, Lane closure for White Lining/Road Markings.

• M42, from 9pm June 20 to 6am June 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 6 to M42, junction 7, Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
