Road closures: almost two dozen for Solihull drivers this week

Drivers in and around Solihull will have 23 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And five of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 11 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M40, from 9pm February 17 to 6am May 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 3a to junction 7, hard shoulder and lane closures for access to emergency refuge bays to replace signage.

• A446, from 9.30am March 1 to 3.30pm May 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 southbound, from M6, junction 4 island to biddles loop, lane closures for tree planting works in relation to HS2.

• A46, from midnight, January 4 to 6am June 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, stoneleigh, short duration mobile working for narrow lanes TM maintenance using IPV and TM vehicle.

• A46, from 6am September 7 2021 to 11.59pm June 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, Stoneleigh, Narrow lanes and speed restriction for construction of new bridge.

• A46, from 9.30am March 28 to 4pm July 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, stoneleigh junction, lane closure and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

• A46, from 11.59pm April 15 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 at Stoneleigh northbound and southbound, 24hr lane closures for, junction improvement scheme.

• A46, from midnight, August 16 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, exit slip at Stoneleigh Road junction, Lane closure on slip and No right turn restriction onto Stoneleigh Road for major scheme works on Stoneleigh Road.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am April 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am August 9 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

• M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

• A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

And a further 12 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A45, from 9am May 9 to 6pm May 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42, junction 6 northbound, Lane closure leading to dedicated slip road closure for works on behalf of major Scheme, diversion - To traffic lights on M42, junction 6, first left turn back to A45 WB.

• M42, from 9pm May 9 to 6am May 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junctions four to junction 6, lane closures for barrier repair works.

• A45, from 9pm May 9 to 6am May 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 4A to junction 4, carriageway closure for Construction improvement/Upgrade concrete barrier construction.

• M42, from 10pm May 10 to 6am May 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 4 to junction 6, lane closures on main carriageway and on slip road for technology repair works.

• M42, from 9pm May 11 to 6am May 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 6 to, junction seven, Lane closure with single lane running for Structure maintenance.

• A45, from 9.30pm May 13 to 5.30am May 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 westbound, Stonebridge to M42, junction 6, Lane closure leading to off network carriageway closure for construction of new carriageway.

• A45, from 7am to 5pm on May 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 by Motorcycle museum, Lane closure for utility works on behalf of EE ltd.

• M42, from 9am May 16 to 6pm May 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42, junction 6 northbound, Lane closure leading to dedicated slip road closure for works on behalf of major Scheme.

• M42, from 9pm May 16 to 6am May 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 6 to junction 4 , Lane closure for carriageway repairs.

• M42, from 9pm May 17 to 6am May 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 7 to junction 6, Lane closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• M42, from 9pm May 23 to 6am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 6 to junction five, Lane closure for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

• M42, from 9pm May 23 to 6am May 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 4 to junction 3A, lane closures with closure of, junction 4 entry slip road for emergency resurfacing works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
