Sandwell's motorists will have six road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Sandwell's motorists will have six road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause major delays – with drivers facing a holdup of at least 30 minutes. Another two will cause moderate delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

M5, from 10pm January 22 2024 to 5am January 7 2025, severe delays (more than 30 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 7 to junction 10, carriageway and slip road closures for carriageway resurfacing, diversion route via National Highways and local authority network.

And a further five closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M6, from 9pm January 29 to 6am January 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 6 to junction 7, exit and entry slip road closure and lane closure for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

M5, from 7pm January 30 to 6am January 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 1 northbound, exit slip Road, Lane closure on behalf of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.

M5, from 7pm February 6 to 6am February 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5, junction 1 northbound, exit slip, Lane closure on behalf of works for Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.

M5, from 9pm February 9 to 6am February 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 2, slip road and hard shoulder closure for communication works. , diversion route via National Highways network.

M5, from 9pm February 12 to 6am February 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 1 to junction 2, carriageway closure and lane closures for structural works, diversion via National Highways and local authority networks.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
