Sandwell road closures: nine for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Sandwell's motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And two of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that nine closures are due to start over the next two weeks:

• M5, from 9pm December 11 to 6am December 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound and southbound, junction 2 to junction 3, Lane closures due to barrier repairs.

• A4123, from 10pm December 11 to 6am December 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 both directions jct eight to M5 jct one, carriageway closure for survey works.

• A4123, from 8pm December 12 to 6am December 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound and southbound, junction 3, exit slip road carriageway closure and lane closure for communication works, diversion via National Highways network.

• M5, from 9pm December 12 to 6am December 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, jct one to M6 jct seven (eastern arm), lane closure for barrier repairs.

• M6, from 9pm December 12 to 6am December 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 7 to junction 8, Lane closure for barrier repair works.

• M6, from 9pm December 13 to 6am December 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 7 to junction 8, Lane closure for carriageway reconstruction works.

• M5, from 9pm December 13 to 6am December 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound and southbound, junction 1 to junction 2, carriageway closure due to maintenance works, diversion via local authority Network.

• A456, from 9pm December 16 to 5am December 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 1 to junction 2, slip road and lane closure for communication works.

• M6, from 9pm December 17 to 6am December 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions, junction 8 to junction 10A, Lane closure for inspection/survey works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
