Sandwell road closures: almost a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Sandwell's motorists will have 11 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And five of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M5, from 9pm January 10 to 5am February 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound and southbound, from M6, junction 8 to M5, junction 3, lane closures drainage works.

• M5, from 9pm February 14 to 6am March 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 10 to 7 including entry and exit slips, carriageway and slip roads closures for resurfacing and upgrading of technology and signage works.

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M5, from 9pm February 21 to 6am February 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, M6, junction 8 to M5, junction 1, Lane closure for communications.

• M6, from 9pm February 21 to 6am February 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, J9 Wednesbury to J8, Lane closure for Electrical works.

• A4123, from 10pm February 23 to 6am February 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5, junction 3 to 2 northbound and junction 2 northbound, exit slip, Lane closure leasding to a closure of the exit slip road for electrical works.

• M6, from 8pm February 28 to 6am March 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 8 to junction 9, Lane closure for electrical works.

• M6, from 8pm March 1 to 6am March 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 9 to junction 8, Lane closure for communications on behalf of Kier.

• A4123, from 10pm March 6 to 6am March 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5, junction 1 to 2 southbound and junction 2 southbound, exit slip road, Lane closure leading to a closure of the exit slip road for electrical works.

• M5, from 9pm March 7 to 5am March 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound and southbound, junction 2 to junction one - Lane closure for drainage works.

• A4123, from 9pm March 7 to 6am March 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 2 to junction 3, Lane closures leading to slip road closure for carriageway repairs.

• M6, from 10pm March 7 to 6am March 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 9 to junction 10, lane closure leading to slip road closure for inspection works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
