Road closures: six for Sandwell drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Sandwell will have six National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause major delays – with motorists facing a wait of at least 30 minutes. Another will cause moderate delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

M5, from 10pm January 22 2024 to 5am January 7 2025, severe delays (more than 30 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 7 to junction 10, carriageway and slip road closures for carriageway resurfacing, diversion route via National Highways and local authority network.

And a further five closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M5, from 9pm February 19 to 6am February 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction one to junction 8 M6, Lane closures for maintenance work.

M6, from 9pm February 19 to 6am February 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 6 to junction 8, Lane closures for maintenance.

A4123, from 9pm February 20 to 6am February 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 2, Lane closures for survey works.

A4123, from 9pm February 21 to 6am February 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 2, carriageway, entry and exit slip road and lane closures for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways and local authority networks.

M5, from 9pm March 4 to 6am March 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 2 to junction 1, Lane closure for maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
