Road closures: four for Sandwell drivers this week

Drivers in and around Sandwell will have four National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures are due to start this week:

• M5, from 9pm May 30 to 5am May 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 1 to M6 northbound and southbound, junction 8 , carriageway closure for emergency gantry inspections, diversion - M5 J1 - A41 - Black Country New Rd - Dudley St -, A461 Wood Green Rd - M6 J9.

• M6, from 9pm May 30 to 5am June 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, from M5 northbound to M6 southbound, link road, closure of the link road for bridge joint inspection.

• A4123, from 9pm June 8 to 5am June 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5, junction 1 North Bound and South Bound exit Slip, Total closures for drainage.

• A4123, from 9pm June 10 to 6am June 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction one to junction 1, Lane closure for drainage, diversion- M5 southbound, junction 1 to junction 2 to travel back northbound.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
