Insider’s Midlands Rich List has been released today and here is the richest person from Birmingham

The Insider Media Rich List was released earlier today (Wednesday, November 13) revealing the wealthiest people from the Midlands.

The list tells us the wealthiest billionaires and millionaires in and around Birmingham and the West Midlands region.

This year, the full Midlands list has been compiled by Robert Watts, known for the Sunday Times Rich List, and has been revealed in the December edition of Midlands Business Insider

This year’s group of the most wealthy billionaires and millionaires have a combined wealth of over £50bn. StaffordshireJCB owner Lord Anthony Bamford sits at the top of the list.

But who is the richest person in the list from Birmingham and the West Midlands?

Mike Ashley, who is a retail entrepreneur and the founder and former chief executive of Frasers Group plc, is the richest person on the list to hail from the West Midlands region.

He comes third on the overall Midlands Rich List. Born in Walsall, he has a net worth of £3.828bn (£3.862bn).

Bromsgrove-born Ben Francis, the owner of Gymshark, is the 14th richest person in the Midlands, with Ranjit and Baljinder Boparan the richest people on the list whose company is based in Birmingham.

The Boparans founded 2 Sisters Food in 1993. Their Birmingham-based business supplies poultry to Asda, Sainsbury's, KFC, and other clients on £3b plus turnover. The couple also own a portfolio of restaurant chains, including Carluccio’s, Ed’s Easy Diner, Fishworks, and Giraffe. Their private office shows £518m on its balance sheet and the separate chicken producer adds another £168m.
