Using official police reports, crime statistics, and local vehicle theft data, they have identified the areas where car thieves are striking most frequently, calculating theft rates per 1,000 registered vehicles to reveal the true scale of the problem.
Regionally, tiny Blaenau Gwent in Wales leads with a jaw-dropping 587.9 thefts per 100,000, fueled by a recent crime surge. West Midlands follows with a staggering 377.9 rate, its urban sprawl a magnet for thieves, while Cleveland’s 315.8 rate marks it as a northern danger zone.
Even Greater London, with 20,000 cars nicked yearly, lands at number nine as thefts soar by nearly 25% in a single year.
