Road closures: seven for Birmingham drivers this week

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have seven National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have seven National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And four of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A456, from 10.30pm November 19 to 5am November 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A435 / M5, junction 3 roundabout and jct three southbound, exit slip road, Lane closures on slip road and roundabout to support off network closures on A435 Quinton Expressway for Tree works.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

A5, from 9pm December 8 2021 to 5.30am September 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5 westbound, hints bypass between the A453 and A38 junctions, (tamworth to lichfield), temporary speed, lane closures with switching and narrow lanes running for general construction works.

And a further four closures will begin over the next seven days:

M42, from 9pm November 21 to 6am November 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 both directions jct four to jct six, lane closures with closure of jct five northbound, exit slip road for removal of temporary barriers.

M5, from 8pm November 24 to 5am November 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, Frankley services, slip road closure for carriageway repairs.

A446, from 9pm November 24 to 6am November 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, jct five to jct 4, lane closures with closure of main carriageway including slip roads for relocating speed cameras.

M5, from 11pm November 24 to 4am November 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 both directions jct two to jct 5, short stop activities for inspections.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
