Road closures: seven for Birmingham drivers this week

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have seven National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

But motorists will be able to take some solace in the fact that all of them are only expected to cause slight delays, of less than 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M6, from 9pm September 11 to 6am September 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, jct seven to jct six, lane closures for technology repairs.

M6, from 8pm September 5 to 5am September 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 3A onto the M42 northbound, J9, lane closures with lane switching for drainage works.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

A5, from 9pm December 8 2021 to 5.30am September 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5 westbound, hints bypass between the A453 and A38 junctions, (tamworth to lichfield), temporary speed, lane closures with switching and narrow lanes running for general construction works.

And a further three closures will begin over the next seven days:

M6, from 8pm September 14 to 5am September 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 1 to M6, junction 6 southbound, Lane closure for communications.

M6, from 8pm September 16 to 5am September 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions jct six to jct seven, lane closures for Communcation works.

M6, from 9pm September 19 to 6am September 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, jct six to junction 7 aRoad, lane closure for inspection/survey works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
