Road closures: seven for Birmingham drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have seven National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have seven National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And three of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M5, from 9pm October 9 to 6am October 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 both directions jct three to jct 4, lane and slip road closure for inspection works.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

And a further five closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A38, from 8pm October 16 to 6am October 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5 both directions Weeford to Bittercote, lane closure for inspection/survey works.

M6, from 9pm October 18 to 6am October 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions jct seven to jct six , lane closure for barrier/fence safety repairs.

A38(M), from 9pm October 21 to 6am October 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A38M northbound, CD link road, carriageway closure for barrier repairs.

A456, from 9.30am October 23 to 3pm October 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, jct three roundabout, lane closure for drainage works.

M42, from 9pm October 25 to 6am October 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, jct six to jct four, carriageway closure for construction improvement/upgrade.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
