Road closures: more than a dozen for Birmingham drivers this week

And five of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M42, from 11pm March 20 to 4am March 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 1 to junction 6, temporary carriageway closure and slip road closures under police rolling road blocks for gantry inspections.

M42, from 9pm March 14 to 6am March 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 4 to junction 6 including M42 Links onto the M6 northbound, carriageway and associated slip / link roads closures for Construction improvement/Upgrade installation of narrow lanes.

M6, from 9pm October 30 2021 to 6am April 4 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 6 to A38M into City AC and BC link roads, carriageway closure for installation of 24/7 hard shoulder closure for structure works.

M42, from 9pm January 17 to 6am May 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 10a to junction 4a, hard shoulder and lane closure with link road closures for access to the emergency refuge bays to upgrade signage.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

A5, from 9pm December 8 2021 to 5.30am September 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5 westbound, hints bypass between the A453 and A38 junctions, (tamworth to lichfield), temporary speed, lane closures with switching and narrow lanes running for general construction works.

And a further eight closures will begin over the next seven days:

M42, from 9pm March 21 to 6am March 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 4, Lane closure leading to carriageway and associated slip road closure for Construction improvement/Upgrades.

M5, from 9.30pm March 21 to 4am March 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound and southbound, junction 3 to junction 4, lane closures for replacement of columns and cables.

M6, from 10pm March 21 to 6am March 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction J4 to junction 5, Lane closure for inspection/survey.

M6, from 9pm March 22 to 6am March 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction J6 to junction 4A, Lane closure for communications.

M6, from 9pm March 27 to 6am March 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 6 to junction 7, Hard Shoulder Only for Electrical works.

A38(M), from 10pm March 28 to 5am April 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A38M into and out of City from M6, junction 6 to Dartmouth Circus, Lane closures leading to carriageway closure and associated links and slip roads of A38M for street lighting electrical works.

M6, from 9pm March 29 to 6am March 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 7 to 6, Lane closure for Electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
