Road closures: eight for Birmingham drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have eight National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have eight National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And four of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M5, from 9pm August 21 to 6am August 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, jct three to jct 2, lane closure for barrier/fence safety repairs.

M6, from 9pm August 21 to 6am August 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 both directions jct six to jct four, lane and carriageway closures on southbound, carriageway and only lanes closures on northbound, carriageway for construction improvement/upgrade.

M6, from 9pm August 24 to 6am August 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, jct five exit slip road, carriageway closure for electrical works.

M6, from 5am July 12 to 6am August 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, jct 4a to jct five and jct five exit slip road, 24/7 hard shoulder closure and lane closure on slip road with 50mph speed limit for technology works.

M5, from 9pm August 21 to 6am September 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, link from M6 northbound, jct 8, and M6 northbound, jct seven entry slip road, Lane closures, slip and link road carriageway closures road marking works.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

And a further two closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A446, from 9pm September 4 to 6am September 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions, junction 5 to junction 8 and jct six link roads from A38M, link road carriageway closures and lane closure for construction improvement/upgrade.

A4123, from 9pm September 4 to 6am September 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, jct three to jct 2, carriageway closure for resurfacing works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
