Road closures: almost a dozen for Birmingham drivers this week

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have 10 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And three of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A446, from 9pm June 16 to 6am June 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4 southbound, entry slip road and junction 4 roundabout, closure of, junction 4 southbound, entry slip road and various lane closures at, junction 4 roundabout, diversion via M6 northbound, turnaround at, junction 5 and return to M6 southbound.

• A38(M), from 8pm June 19 to 5am June 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, onto A38M into and out of City, carriageway closure for Gantry works, diversion via Salford Circus and A5127 to Darmouth Circus and vice versa.

• M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

• A5, from 9pm December 8 2021 to 5.30am September 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5 westbound, hints bypass between the A453 and A38 junctions, (tamworth to lichfield), temporary speed, lane closures with switching and narrow lanes running for general construction works.

And a further six closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M6, from 8pm June 20 to 6am July 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 3 to junction 4, Lane closure for White Lining/Road Markings.

• M5, from 8pm June 20 to 5am June 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound and southbound, junction 2 to junction 3, lane closures for lighting repairs works.

• M6, from 9pm June 20 to 5am June 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 7 to junction 4A, Lane closure for communications.

• A38(M), from 11.59pm June 24 to 7am June 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A38M into city Park Circus to Dartmouth Circus, Off network erection Banner signage for commonwealth games.

• M6, from 9pm June 28 to 6am June 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 4 to junction 3, Lane closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• M6, from 10pm June 29 to 6am June 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 Salford Circus roundabout to junction 6 northbound and southbound, slip road closures and lane closure on Salford Circus roundabout for inspection/survey.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
