Road closures: almost a dozen for Birmingham drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have 10 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have 10 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And five of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M6, from 9pm February 5 to 6am March 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions, junction 6 to junction 7, Lane closure for maintenance works.

M6, from 8pm November 13 2023 to 6am March 28 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, jct six to jct 5, carriageway closure for bridge joint replacement works, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

M42, from 9pm February 12 to 6am May 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to junction 8, carriageway, slip road, link road and lane closures due to technology works, diversion via National Highways network.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

M6, from 6am January 12 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, Hard shoulder closures with 50mph speed restriction for maintenance works.

And a further five closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M6, from 10pm February 20 to 6am February 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 5 to junction 6, carriageway, slip road and lane closures for communication works, diversion via National Highways and local authority networks.

A38(M), from 9pm February 22 to 6am February 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A38M northbound and southbound, Aston Express to Gravelly Hill / Tyburn Road, link road closures for maintenance works, diversion route is via National Highways and local authority network.

M6, from 9pm February 22 to 5am February 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 7 to junction 6, Lane closure for communication works.

A456, from 9pm February 26 to 5am February 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 3, carriageway and lane closures for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways network.

M6, from 9pm March 2 to 6am March 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 6, exit slip road closure for maintenance works, diversions via National Highways and local authority networks.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
