Road closures: almost a dozen for Birmingham drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have 11 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Birmingham will have 11 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And two of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A38(M), from 9pm February 3 to 6am February 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A38 northbound, Tyburn Road to A38M southbound, Aston Expressway, link road closure and lane closure for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways and local authority networks.

M6, from 8pm November 13 2023 to 6am March 28 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, jct six to jct 5, carriageway closure for bridge joint replacement works, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

M6, from 6am January 12 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, Hard shoulder closures with 50mph speed restriction for maintenance works.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M6, from 9pm February 5 to 6am March 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions, junction 6 to junction 7, Lane closure for maintenance works.

A446, from 9pm February 5 to 6am February 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 6 to junction 7, carriageway, slip road, link road and lane closures for resurfacing works, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

M6, from 9pm February 6 to 6am February 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5, Lane closure for communication works.

M5, from 9pm February 7 to 6am February 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 3 to junction 4, Lane closure for inspection works.

M42, from 9pm February 12 to 6am May 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to junction 8, carriageway, slip road, link road and lane closures due to technology works, diversion via National Highways network.

M6, from 9pm February 12 to 5am February 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 3 to junction 4, Lane closure for communication works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
