GP Rankings: The top 10 GP practices in Birmingham and Solihull


The 2023 GP Patient survey was published earlier this year, revealing what patients thought of their local GP practice.
The annual survey saw around 760,000 patients complete a questionnaire asking about their experiences with the local GP surgery.

Hide AdThe NHS England figures showed overall satisfaction in GPs across England fell to its lowest level since the survey began in 2018, with 71.3% of patients rating the service as "good" or "very good" in 2023 – down from 72.4% in 2022.
But where are the highest-rated GP practices in Birmingham and Solihull?
We ranked the top 10 in the area by the percentage of people who rated the service as good or very good, excluding those with fewer than 100 responses.
1. Dr Kulshrestha Family Practice
Of the 117 people who responded to the GP survey, 97.5% described their overall experience of Dr Kulshrestha Family Practice as "good" or "very good".

Hide AdSome 74.2% said the practice was very good, while 23.3% said it was good. A further 1.1% said it was poor, while no one described the service as very poor.
2. Selly Park Surgery
Coming in second was Selly Park Surgery, where 67.3% of 113 people said their experience at the practice was very good, and 27.4% described it as good.
It meant the practice was rated at least good by 94.7% of patients, making it the second-highest rated practice in Birmingham and Solihull.
3. Kingsbury Road Medical Centre
Kingsbury Road Medical Centre came in third with a score of 94.2%.

Hide AdSome 57.1% of patients at the practice rated the service as very good, while a further 37.1% believed it was just good.
Meanwhile, no one described the service as poor, but 3.8% said it was very poor.
4. Cotmore Surgery
Coming in just outside the top three was Cotmore Surgery, which 93.1% of 103 patients rated as good or very good.
The practice was rated very good by 77.1% of patients, and good by 16%.

Hide AdHowever, no patients thought the service was poor, but 1.6% said it was very poor.
5. Arden Medical Centre
Rounding out the top five GP practices in Birmingham and Solihull was Arden Medical Centre.
Of the 121 patients who responded to the GP survey, 90.9% said their experience at the practice was either good or very good.
This included 62.1% saying the practice was "very good", the highest grade on the survey.

Hide Ad6. West Heath Primary Care Centre
With 90.6% of 101 patients grading the practice as good or very good, West Heath Primary Care Centre ranked sixth in Birmingham and Solihull.
At the other end of the scale, just 3.1% said their overall experience was poor or very poor.
7. The Sheldon Medical Centre
At seventh place in the rankings was the Sheldon Medical Centre.
Patients' experience at the practice was rated as good or very good by 90.5% of the 103 respondents to the GP survey.
Of those, 66.4% rated it as very good.
8. Apollo Surgery
Apollo Surgery lands at eighth in Birmingham and Solihull.

Hide AdThis is thanks to 87.9% of patients at the practice describing their overall experience there as good or very good.
Of them, 64.5% said the service was very good, while 23.4% described it as good.
9. Sutton Road Surgery, and Dr Walji and Colleagues
Coming it at ninth in the rankings are Sutton Road Surgery, and Dr Walji and Colleagues.
Some 86.7% of patients who responded to the GP survey graded their service as good or very good.
At the other end of the scale, no one said their experience at Sutton Road Surgery was very poor. This rose to 3.4% for Dr Walji and Colleagues.
