New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to four of Birmingham’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Food hygiene ratings report on the standards of food hygiene found during inspections by local authority officials.

The scheme gives businesses a rating from 5 to 0 which is displayed at premises and online so customers can make more informed choices about where to buy and eat food. A 5-star rating means hygiene standards are very good, while 0 means urgent improvement is required.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following rating has been given to one restaurant, cafe or canteen:

• Rated 1: The Funky Bear Mere Green at 93 Hill Village Road, Birmingham; rated on January 20

Pubs, bars and nightclubs

And one rating has been handed to a pub, bar or nightclub:

• Rated 4: Lord Clifden at The Lord Clifden, 34 Great Hampton Street, Birmingham; rated on January 20

Takeaways

Plus two ratings for takeaways:

  • Rated 1: Chicken Hut at 201 Corporation Street, Ladywood, Birmingham; rated on January 20
  • Rated 1: Dorapan Chinese Takeaway at 60 East Meadway, Birmingham; rated on January 20
