Birmingham's motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And two of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A456, from 9.30am October 3 to 3pm October 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, jct three off slip, Lane closures for urgent arbacultrial works.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

A5, from 9pm December 8 2021 to 5.30am September 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5 westbound, hints bypass between the A453 and A38 junctions, (tamworth to lichfield), temporary speed, lane closures with switching and narrow lanes running for general construction works.

And a further six closures will begin over the next seven days:

M42, from 9pm October 10 to 6am October 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, jct four to jct five, lane closures with narrow lanes and single lane running for White Lining/Road Markings.

M6, from 9pm October 12 to 6am October 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, jct six to jct 8, lane closures for inspection/survey works.

M5, from 9pm October 13 to 6am October 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, jct three to jct four, lane closures for barrier repairs.

M42, from 9pm October 16 to 6am October 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 4, carriageway closure including slip roads for construction improvement/upgrade works.

M6, from 9pm October 17 to 6am October 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, jct six to jct 8, Lane closure for inspection/survey works.

M6, from 9pm October 20 to 6am October 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4A to 6 and junction 5 exit and entry slips, Lane and slip road closures for installation of temporary barrier.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
