Birmingham's motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Birmingham's motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M6, from 9pm January 7 to 6am January 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions, junction 7 to junction 5, Lane closure for maintenance works.

M6, from 9pm November 27 2023 to 6am February 3 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 both directions jct five to jct seven, carriageway, link roads and lane closures for drainage works.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

A446, from 9pm November 27 2023 to 5am December 10 2026, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 both directions jct 7A to jct nine and M6 both directions jct 3A to M42, Lane and carriageway closures for construction works for HS2.

And a further five closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M6, from 9pm January 8 to 5am January 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions jct seven to jct 6, lane closures for inspection/survey works.

M6, from 9pm January 9 to 6am January 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 5 to junction 6, carriageway, slip road and lane closures for communication works, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

M6, from 9pm January 11 to 6am January 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A38 northbound to M6 southbound, link road, carriageway closure and lane closure for carriageway reconstruction/renewal works, diversion via National Highways and local authority networks.

M6, from 8pm January 13 to 6am February 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, jct six to jct 5, carriageway closure for bridge joint replacement works, diversion via National Highways and local authority network.

A4123, from 9pm January 17 to 6am January 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 3, exit slip road closure for litter clearance works, diversion via National Highways network.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
