Birmingham road closures: five for motorists to avoid this week

Birmingham's motorists will have five road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Birmingham's motorists will have five road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A5, from 9pm December 8 2021 to 5.30am September 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5 westbound, hints bypass between the A453 and A38 junctions, (tamworth to lichfield), temporary speed, lane closures with switching and narrow lanes running for general construction works.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

And a further three closures will begin over the next seven days:

M6, from 9pm January 18 to 6am January 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A38M out of City to M6 southbound, junction 6 and Salford Circus to M6 southbound, carriageway closures for carriageway resurfacing.

M5, from 11pm January 23 to 6am January 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions jct two to jct 5, short stops for surveys.

M5, from 9pm January 25 to 6am January 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, jct one to M6 jct 8, lane closures for barrier repairs.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
