Birmingham's motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Birmingham's motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And five of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M5, from 9pm August 21 to 6am September 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 southbound, link from M6 northbound, jct 8, and M6 northbound, jct seven entry slip road, Lane closures, slip and link road carriageway closures road marking works.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

And a further six closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M5, from 9pm September 1 to 6am September 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions jct three to jct 2, lane closure for barrier repairs.

A38(M), from 6am to 1pm on September 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A38M out of city Birmingham to A38 Tyburn road, carriageway closure and lane closure for local Authority works.

A446, from 9pm September 4 to 6am September 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 both directions, junction 5 to junction 8 and jct six link roads from A38M, link road carriageway closures and lane closure for construction improvement/upgrade.

A4123, from 9pm September 4 to 6am September 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 northbound, jct three to jct 2, carriageway closure for resurfacing works.

A446, from 9pm September 5 to 6am September 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, jct five exit slip road and southbound, jct five entry slip road, Lane and slip road closures for electrical and signs works.

A4123, from 9pm September 7 to 6am September 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M5 both directions jct three entry slip roads, slip road carriageway closures for structural inspections.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
