Birmingham's motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Birmingham's motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And four of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M6, from 5am July 12 to 6am August 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, jct 4a to jct five and jct five exit slip road, 24/7 hard shoulder closure and lane closure on slip road with 50mph speed limit for technology works.

M6, from 9pm September 18 2019 to 6am December 31 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 6 BC link road, 24 hour hatched area for bridge repairs.

And a further six closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A446, from 9pm July 31 to 5am August 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 both directions jct four to jct nine and slip roads at M6 jct 6, Lane closures and slip road closures for technology works.

M6, from 10pm July 31 to 6am August 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 5 to 7 lane closures, various lane closures for patching works.

M5, from 9pm August 1 to 6am August 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions jct one to M6 jct 9, lane closures for barrier/fence safety repairs.

A446, from 9pm August 10 to 6am August 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A38M out of city to M6 northbound, link jct 6, Lane and link road carriageway closures for technology works.

A4097, from 9pm August 14 to 6am August 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, jct four to jct six Including links from M42 both directions onto The M6 northbound, Lane, carriageway and link road closures for construction improvement/upgrade works.

M5, from 9pm August 14 to 6am August 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, jct eight to jct six and jct seven southbound, entry slip road, slip road carriageway closure and lane closures with single lane running for drainage works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
