Historic Pentecostal church in Birmingham suburb to be auctioned at £10,000


The Living Waters Community Church at 5A Waverhill Road, once a popular worship hall for the local Afro Caribbean community, will have a guide price of £10,000+ in the livestreamed auction on Thursday 6 February.
Pictures of the church still show an elaborate decoration on a wall of the main meeting of a verse from Proverbs in the Bible which reads: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”

James Rossiter, senior auction valuer at Bond Wolfe, explained that freehold property was now vacant and could be suitable for alternative uses subject to planning permission.
Mr Rossiter said: “This is a single-storey former community church that stands back from the road behind a small forecourt.
“The property is located on the east side of Waverhill Road which runs off the A41 Soho Road in the popular and diverse suburb of Handsworth.

Hide Ad“The interior includes a large hall that was previously used for worship and meetings, an office, two storerooms, a kitchen, two toilets and a covered side passageway.
“The property may be suitable for change of use or redevelopment subject to planning permission.”


The Handsworth church will be among scores of lots appearing in Bond Wolfe’s next auction which is due to start at 8.30am on Thursday 6 February.
