Here’s everything you need to know about Aston Villa’s first home game in Europe’s top competition since 1983

Unai Emery’s side will welcome Bayern Munich to Villa Park this week in a repeat of the 1982 European Cup final.

The home side will look to summon the spirit of ‘82 and produce an upset win against Vincent Kompany’s Bundesliga league leaders on Wednesday night (October 2).

Villa, who drew 2-2 away at Ipswich Town on Sunday, have one less day to prepare midweek’s clash as the Bavarian giants played on Saturday. The fixture schedule is ramping up and there’s been a lot of talk around if it’s a fair expectation for the players, with some teams having to face over 60 fixtures in a single season.

Here’s what you need to know ahead of the game.

Kick-off time

The game takes place at Villa Park in Birmingham on Wednesday, with kick-off at 8pm.

Is the game on TV?

The game will be shown live on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate (BT Sport), with the coverage getting underway at 6pm.

The Witton Arms has long been one of Birmingham's best pubs for home fans travelling to Villa Park on match days. It’s been attracting more and more Aston Villa fans over the last year thanks to its huge outdoor fan park. It’s just around the corner from Villa Park so there will be a great atmosphere, too.

The Sacred Heart Club on Grange Road is also another great pub for Villa fans, as is the Aston Tavern. The Tavern is also located just down the road from the stadium in Aston. The restored Victorian pub, is very popular with Villa fans.

The Yew Tree on Brookvale Road and of course the Holte Pub, located next to the stadium, are also good choices for Villa
