This Town: Meet the characters of Steven Knight's new Birmingham drama & watch the trailer

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight's latest BBC series called This Town tells the story of Ska music and 2-tone in Birmingham and Coventry like never before.

Knight, who was also the co-director of the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony in 2022, has once again taken inspiration from his Birmingham upbringing to create a new drama.

This Town is described as a family drama and is based on “an extended family and four young people who are drawn into the world of ska and two-tone music which exploded from the grass roots of Coventry and Birmingham in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, uniting black, white and Asian youths,” according to BBC.

This Town opens in 1981 at a moment of huge social tensions and unrest. It’s a thriller and family saga against this backdrop. It will tell the story of a “group of young people fighting to choose their own paths in life, and each in need of the second chance that music offers.”

Parts of filming has taken place in Birmingham, including and at Steven Knight’s new Digbeth Loc. Film and TV Studios. The six-part series will be available in full on BBC iPlayer from 6am on Sunday March 31, and have a double premiere with episodes one and two airing at 9pm on BBC One on Sunday 31 March and Monday 1 April, respectively.

A star-studded glitzy red -carpet preview is also set to take place at Birmingham Town Hall on Tuesday, March 19- with free tickets for the public up for grabs.

Ahead of the premiere, we've taken a look at the show's main characters. Levi Brown is set to star in the lead role as Dante Williams.

The main roles in the series will be played by Brown (Dante Williams), Jordan Bolger (Gregory Williams) Ben Rose ( Bardon Quinn) and Eve Austin (Jeannie Keefe)
