You can make your day out extra special for your child by including an interesting experience with animals. There are many farms, petting zoos, and even horse riding lessons to be had in and around Birmingham.
Some are right inside the city while others will need you to travel a short distance. Spending time with animals can be a relaxing experience for both adults and children.
From driving through a safari park where wild animals roam free to learning about farming and dairy practices, there is much to be done in and around the city.
Most of these places accept big groups and small to come and enjoy a day out in the wild with friendly animals.

5. West Midlands Safari Park, Bewdley
You can drive your car through the 150 acre safari park to see the world’s most beautiful and critically endangered animals. 6. Hole Farm Trekking Centre, Quinton
Hole Farm Trekking Centre is part of Woodgate Valley Country Park in Birmingham. Riders can go on a led ride through Woodgate Valley, in a safe, traffic-free environment. 7. Woodgate Valley Country Park, Quinton
This is a 450 acre area of countryside in the centre of Bartley Green and Quinton. There are many mixed, mature hedgerows, meadows, woodland, and small ponds. The Bournbrook runs through the park. The Woodgate Valley Urban Farm is home to rare breed sheep, Limousin cattle, Vietnamese pot bellied pigs, poultry, pygmy goats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals. 8. Broomey Croft Children’s Farm, Sutton Coldfield
The farm is home to pigs, sheep, goats, llamas and rabbits. Children are allowed to pet the animals, who are very friendly. The farm is located inside the Kingsbury Water Park which also includes Granary Tea Room, Warwickshire Fire Service Training Facility, Camping and Caravanning Club campsite, changing places, accessible and standard toilet facilities.
