Nightlife here in the UK can often be a bit samey - drink, followed by food and then more drinks.

Most of us spend the day socialising with our nearest and dearest on our phones so the sparkle of simply catching up may be lost on us, leaving us looking for something more to engage in when we get together.

Despite the cost of living crisis putting huge strain on the hospitality industry, Birmingham’s nightlife scene continues to expand with new venues routinely popping up across the city.

Here at 1 Victoria Square, just a two minute walk from the council building, Roxy Leisure are opening their second Roxy Ball Room venue here in the city.

The first iteration of the popular ‘Booze & Balls’ concept opened in Digbeth in 2020, which will soon be rebranded to Roxy Lanes and shift focus to bowling, making way for the Ball Room experience to find it’s home here in the city centre. And that experience is not what you’d typically expect upon hearing “Ball Room”.

This is not a place for formal gatherings - and instead follows a “booze and ball games” mantra. Activities include games such as American Pool, Basketball, beer pong, ping pong, shuffleboard, ten pin bowling and many more alongside a wide range of drinks on offer.

Roxy Leisure so far has 13 sites across the UK and Birmingham is now set to be the 4th city to receive a second site. The first Roxy Ball Room opened in Leeds in 2013, with Digbeth being the second venue using this concept, and the popularity and success of that venue has led to the experience being brought into the heart of the city.

Quite clearly this nightlife experience has managed to draw in customers despite it being such a difficult time for both businesses and consumers.

Perhaps it’s unique draw - offering more than an evening of drinking, eating or dancing which is so typical of the nightlife scene across the whole of the UK - is what gives Roxy Leisure such confidence in expanding their portfolio here in the city, as well as the regeneration that we’ve seen the past few years making the city such draw for businesses to set up shop.
