It’s the affluent Birmingham ‘burb with a village vibe and eclectic collection of bars and restaurants.

You can almost eat and drink your way around the whole world in Moseley - it’s even got its own Cuban Embassy!

Asides from that there’s the delicious Arabian-inspired dishes at Damascena, Spanish tapas at La Plancha, Moroccan delights at La Fibule, authentic Indian street food at Zindya and  plenty of Irish craic at Patrick Kavanagh.

There are also some great traditional British pubs with some unique collaborations, including the fantastic Kouzina Greek pop-up at The Village.

On the third Wednesday of every month, the award winning chefs bring their gorgeously authentic Greek cuisine to the pub in the heart of Moseley.

Their fabulously hearty dishes have been featured on The Hairy Bikers Comfort Food “Crowd Pleasers” episode. They’ve also got an outlet in Selfridges and are regulars at Digbeth Dining Club, BBC Good Food Show and Lichfield Festival.

We joined Kouzina Greek at their pop-up during Easter week as they paid homage to “the Greek classics”.

Ahead of our visit, I must admit, we were delighted to hear that rather than this being an evening about Homer and Iliad, it was instead based on Greek Taverna classics so the menu featured the rather more appetising Moussaka, Stifado and Gemista Peppers.

And what an amazing evening it was - packed full of some of the most delicious food you can imagine.

Hearty and oozing with flavour the show stopper Beef Stifado comprised Herefordshire beef short rib braised in Green wine and shallots served with roasted herb potatoes topped with barrel aged feta.

Equally delicious was the fabulous dips of houmous, tzatziki and triokaferi served with handmade flatbread.

Our side serving of Greek Salad with barrel aged feta was a hugely generous portion, which could have easily served as a meal in itself.

The side helping of skin on fries also packed a punch with flavour. The dessert dish was pistachio Baklava also looked amazing, but we didn’t get around to that.

The wine selection was equally delicious, we opted for Reserve de Mirou which balanced the flavoursome food superbly.

The restaurant is owned by Paul Polyviou and Chris Butcher, who credit their mothers and grandmothers for being the inspiration behind their cooking.

They say their stories twofold - one starting in Cyprus in the late 1960s, the other in England in the 1980s.

They join together with the experience of growing up in Greek Cypriot households which meant they were well fed, with food everywhere.

They explain their devotion to creating delicious dishes by saying: “Food is our way of celebrating life, from the care taken in the cooking to the immeasurable pleasure of feeding another, we pride ourselves on doing it right.
