Birmingham Pride 2023: full line-up, parade route, how to get tickets, more

BirminghamPride is coming early this year and it’s going to be bigger with added runway, a larger VIP area, larger screens for better visibility and a great line up of international, national and local recording artists.

The two-day event is set to take place on May 27 and 28 with five stages and a massive line-up. The main stage will be set up in Smithfield but that’s not all. There will be a village street party, a big community event a day prior, and of course, the Pride Parade.

Birmingham’s LGBTQ+ village will be transformed so that performers and musicians can entertain the large audience. There will be several amazing performers, including Eurovision contestant Mae Muller at Birmingham Pride.

When is the Big Community Event?

The big community event is returning after its success last year and it will be held on May 26. It will take place on Hurst Street between 18:00hrs and 22:00 hrs.

The event is free, but you will require a free ticket which you can claim from the Birmingham Pride website.

It will feature local LGBTQ+ talent, choirs, keynote speakers, drag performers and a candlelit vigil. The area provides limited seating and a quieter vibe and provides the perfect start to the Birmingham Pride weekend.

When is Birmingham Pride Parade?

The Birmingham Pride Parade march is one of the key parts of the festival weekend with thousands of people participating in it. People from the LGBTQIA+ community and allies will come together to walk, march and aboard decorated floats - it will be a spectacle to behold on the first day of Birmingham Pride - May 27.

The Pride march is for equality and justice as pride goes hand-in-hand with protest. It is free to attend for everyone and will start at Centenary Square from 11am. It will make its way through the city from 12 noon, making its way to the LGBTQ+ village where people then make their way to the main festival activities.

Where is the Village Street Party?

The area around Hurst Street, just down from the Birmingham Hippodrome theatre, Bromsgrove Street and the surrounding streets will be the home of the Birmingham Pride ‘Street Party’. The Future Stage is part of the Village Street Party and showcases live music bands and local upcoming talent.

Several LGBTQ+ bars and clubs, including Equator, The Fox, The Loft, Missing Bar, Nightingale Club and Sidewalk Bar, The Fountain, Glamorous, Eden and Chic are part of the street party. These bars and clubs will host individual Pride events including cabaret, live entertainment and more, over the festival weekend. A full schedule of events can be found here.

The street party will include a selection of street food vendors including vegetarian and vegan options and a mix of community and commercial market stalls.
