BBC Three comedy show Man Like Mobeen, set in Birmingham, is set to return to our TV screens for series four.

The show stars comedian Guz Khan as Mobeen, who has written it with co-creator Andy Milligan. The comedy also stars Duaa Karim as Mobeen’s younger sister Aqsa and Tolu Ogunmefen as Nate. Mobeen is a reformed drug dealer who is trying to turn his life around and look after Aqsa in Small Heath - but his goals are not so easy to achieve. The show first appeared on TV in 2017.

At the end of series three we saw Mobeen has almost made good on living a quiet-ish life, but in the cliff-hanger series three finale, he found himself banged-up behind bars with his best pal, Nate, after their close friend Eight had been killed. The new series picks up with Mobeen and Nate as they adjust to life in prison.

Series four of the show is releasing on June 8 - and it will answer many of our questions from the previous seasons. Familiar faces like Officer Sajid and Officer Harper return to the show - but in very unexpected situations. Brummie comedian Barbara Nice has also made it in the show, and so has some new characters.

When we asked about the death of Tez Ilyas’ character Eight, co-creator and star of the show Guz Khan explained: “He’s a fantastic character. Nobody else could have played that character. From a story point of view, it was meant to be. His death made people cry. If we had killed Mobeen, it wouldn’t have been as upsetting.”

Guz added wisely: “Eight is a representation of all of those who are innocent and have lost their lives in terrible circumstances.”
