It’s the perfect place to walk the dog or to have a picnic

As we officially enter the summer months (could somebody tell the weather that?) we’re starting to think our favourite things to do in the sunshine.

Of course, one of our top priorities is spending more time in nature, by walking, cycling, picnicking and more.

And while Birmingham might be somewhat of a metropolis, there are many glorious parks and places to explore just a short drive away.

Among those, is Lickey Hills, a country park that is renowned for its natural beauty and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

From the hilltops, you can see as far as the Cotswolds and the Malvern Hills on a clear day. Of course, proud Brummies will also love to marvel at the city’s skyline which can be seen on the horizon from Beacon Hill.

Located about 10 miles south of Birmingham, the park covers over 500 acres of beautiful countryside, including woodlands, grasslands, and heathlands. It boasts a network of walking trails that cater to all abilities - whether you're looking for a short, leisurely stroll or a longer, more challenging hike.

The paths wind through woodlands, meadows, and heathlands, providing plenty of opportunities to explore the diverse landscape.

Lickey Hills is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, foxes, rabbits, and a wide range of bird species. So keep your eyes peeled as you walk, and you might spot some of these creatures in their natural habitat.

The park has a visitor centre where you can find information about the area, including maps of the trails and details about upcoming events. It's a good starting point for your visit, especially if you're unfamiliar with the park.

There are designated picnic areas throughout the park where you can stop and enjoy a snack or a meal surrounded by nature. It's the perfect way to relax and recharge during your visit.

Lickey Hills is a dog-friendly park, so feel free to bring your furry friend along for the adventure.

Just be sure to keep them on a lead and clean up after them to help preserve the beauty of the park for everyone to enjoy.
