Many people across Birmingham will have their eyes on the coronation this weekend, however, many will have another big event in mind. The Great Birmingham Run 2023 will take place on Sunday (May 7).

Taking over the city roads, the event is divided into two routes. A 10k run will take place alongside the longer half marathon - entry for both is through the Great Run website.

The logistics of getting around the city may be tricky on event day, with many spectators also looking to get a good viewpoint, along with participants getting on their marks. To help you out, event organisers have outlined the best ways for people to get to the start line.

Getting to the start line of Great Birmingham Run 2023

Event organisers recommend giving yourself plenty of time in order to reach the start line on time. They also suggest using public transport to get around the route and to the start line.

The start line for the Great Birmingham Run 2023 will be near Centenary Square on Broad Street. The nearest tram stop to the start line will be Library, with the stop for Birmingham Town Hall also just a short walk away.

If you are going to watch the event, Transport for West Midlands have said that The Metro will be operational in the morning from Wolverhampton St Georges to Lower Bull Street. However, this will only be until 12pm when it returns to its full normal route from Wolverhampton St Georges to Edgbaston Village.

The start line is also located close to some car parks, meaning if you do choose to drive you will have options. Paradise Circus Car Park and Paradise Birmingham Car Park are both nearby- however it is important to remember that many roads surrounding the start line and route will be closed.
