St. George’s Day at Tamworth Castle

The celebration of England’s Patron Saint falls on this Saturday (23 April).

Anyone looking for something to do in the spirit of the occasion may wish to head over to Tamworth Castle for a medieval themed St. George’s Day extravaganza.

The line up includes events such as jousting, archery, a living history camp and fairground rides.

There is also a huge animatronic dragon for festival-goers to feast their eyes on. The event is free, and more information is on the Tamworth Castle website.

St George’s Day gin tasting, Middleton Village Hall

Another St George’s Day event taking place in Tamworth this weekend is gin tasting at Middleton Village Hall.

You will sample four quintessentially English gins, hand-picked for the occasion, perfectly paired with premium mixers and garnishes. You won’t be going hungry either, a mini afternoon tea will be served including sandwiches, cake and scones accompanied with jam and clotted cream.

The event takes place from 3pm until 5pm on Saturday.

Little Mix at Resorts World Arena

Playing every night up until Saturday, Little Mix will be here in Birmingham at the Resorts World Arena as part of their confetti tour. The gig was postponed from last May due to the pandemic, but the Brit award pop trio are finally here bringing their critically acclaimed act to the city.

Dub FX Performing at the O2 Academy

At the O2 Academy this Saturday night, legendary street performer Dub FX will be bringing his unique sound to Birmingham.

The Australian musician is known for creating intricate rhythms and huge soundscapes using only his own voice and an assortment of FX pedals and looping.

The act is well loved by fans of dub, reggae, drum n bass and hip-hop, and is not one to miss. More information on the performance over at the o2 Academy website.

Foals at Utilita Arena Birmingham

The indie legends will take to the stage at the Utilita this Saturday.

Foals were meant to perform at the venue in 2021, but the show was postponed due to the pandemic.

The group will be perform hits such as Inhaler and My Number, as well as some songs frm their upcoming album Life Is Yours.

They will be supported by Shame, Goat Girl, Yard Act and Wet Leg.

The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at Birmingham Symphony Hall

The City of Birmingham’s Symphony Orchestra will be putting on a dramatic performance of Mahler’s Fifth Symphony on Saturday night over at the Birmingham Symphony Hall.

It promises to be an epic musical adventure, juxtaposing joy and tragedy throughout the performance. Christoph Koenig will be conducting the performance with Paul Lewis leading with piano. Anyone interested in finding out more about the show should head on over to the B:Music website.
