Actor Stephen Graham has been seen on set of the Peaky Blinders film for the first time in Birmingham - hours after Cillian Murphy was spotted filming scenes in the city.

The 51-year-old Liverpool actor was snapped onboard a narrowboat dressed in period costume outside the Tap and Spile pub on Gas Street Basin last night (Monday, October 21).

The city's famous heart of the canal network, usually bustling with revellers, was shut down while film crews transformed the area into a gritty wartime film set. The award-winning actor is among the cast joining the production alongside new cast members Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth.

Graham played Scouse docker and unionman Hayden Stagg in the final season of the BBC drama but it is yet to be revealed if he will be returning in the same role.

Yesterday fans also got a first look at Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Tommy Shelby as he rode through Cornwall Street on horseback. The 48-year-old Irish actor donned the gangster's trademark flatcap as he shot scenes in the city centre.

The Oscar winner could also be seen with fake blood trickling down his cheek while wearing what appeared to be a heavily mud-stained jacket and suit.

He was also snapped looking relaxed while in discussions with director Steven Knight, who wrote the multi-award winning gritty BBC gritty drama.

"I'm so excited for the movie and hopefully we'll get a glimpse of Cillian. It's brilliant they are filming lots of it in Birmingham, as that's where it's all set.

"It can only be a good thing for the city. Peaky Blinders already brings us loads of tourists but now we have Hollywood stars here, it's amazing."

Parking suspensions were put in place last night (Sun) and will finish at 6pm on Tuesday (22/10) as Oblik Productions Ltd film in the area.

The BBC series ran from 2013 to 2022 and followed the rise of the Shelby family from after the First World War.

The film, called The Immortal Man, is now expected to pick up the family's fortunes a few years later entering the Second World War years.
