People in all of the town’s neighbourhoods will only be a short distance from a part of the route and are being welcomed to check out the schedule (detailed below) and plan where they want to cheer the Baton as it makes its way through the borough’s areas.

Hide AdThe Baton will be supported by a convoy of vehicles which will follow and transport it between relay locations (those sections where the baton is held by and passed between Batonbearers). Roads will be closed to vehicles for approximately 20mins in advance of the baton arrival. It will then be reopened as soon as it has safely passed by. It’s anticipated the disruption at any one location will be limited to circa an hour, and in most cases will be significantly less than this.
Apart from Homer Road, all roads will always remain open to pedestrians and therefore whilst access by vehicle will be temporarily limited, access on foot will be always available. Access for emergency services will also be maintained at all times. Bus services will also be impacted and passengers are being urged to check with their operator to understand how this may affect their journey.

Leader of Solihull Council, Councillor Ian Courtssaid: “I’m so pleased that the Queen’s Baton Relay will be able to be seen by so many of our people in so many of our communities. The route around Solihull is the longest in the West Midlands which will mean that the Baton covers nearly every corner of the borough.
“The Queen’s Baton Relay will pass through beautiful open countryside and picturesque villages, through bustling and diverse towns, and past businesses both large and small that demonstrate the very best of the industrial strength and entrepreneurial spirit of which we are so proud here in Solihull.”
