Today celebrates the publication date of the first definition of a cocktail on May 13, 1806.

And if you want to celebrate the day but don’t drink alcohol, Birmingham has an array of bars with alternative cocktail choices.

From virgin daiquiris to alcohol-free mojitos, there’s plenty to choose from if you want something more dazzling than your average pint of lemonade.

Here are our top five picks for a mocktail in the city:

There are five different beverages on offer including fresh takes on the classic bellini and Aperol spritz.

Situated in the bustling Brindleyplace, Pitcher and Piano has a selection of cocktails, wines, gins, and its own food menu with sharing platters and pub classics.

For teetotallers, there are three non-alcoholic cocktails to choose from as well as a list of soft drinks.

Revellers can enjoy a virgin colada, a virgin apple and raspberry mojito, or the bar’s own passionfruit matin-no served with a shot of lemonade instead of the traditional prosecco.

Zen Metro

Zen Metro stocks non-alcoholic red, white and sparkling wines as well as their own non-alcoholic cocktail menu.

On it, they have their own twist on a summer breeze and a mojito, as well as their own elderly ginger, tropido, Phi Phi island, and Thai pink milk.

They also have a two-for-one offer available Monday to Friday between 12pm and 7pm.

Be At One

With two spaces to choose from in Brindleyplace and Piccadilly Arcade, Be At One has more than 100 cocktails on offer as well as some virgin choices.

The bar has seven different mocktails, including their own versions of the classic pornstar martini and mojito.

They also use non-alcoholic versions of spirits such as Seedlip Spice 94 and Lyre’s non-alcoholic Italian Spritz for some mocktails to add to their authentic taste.

Browns Brasserie and Bar

Browns Restaurants is well-known for its sumptuous food menu offering everything from afternoon tea to Sunday roasts, but it also has an extensive drinks menu.

For those that don’t drink, there are five mocktails to enjoy including a virgin mojito, pineapple and ginger crush, elderflower sherbert, peach melba and a virgin pornstar martini.

Browns also have non-alcoholic lager, pale ale, and cider available.
