The Great Birmingham Run 2022 is on the horizon, and all those taking part will be eagerly counting down the days.

Here’s all the important information you need to know about the 10k race, including where the race finishes and which route runners will be guided through.

When is the Great Birmingham 10K run 2022?

This year’s 10K event is due to take place on Sunday, 1 May. This coincides with the half marathon event.

The race is set to start at 9.30am

Where does the race start and finish?

The route for the 10K run branches out into the city and then comes back to where it started.

Runners are set to both start and finish on Jenners Road.

The 10K route takes runners through the heart of the city and past some of the most iconic buildings in Birmingham.

The 10k route starts in the city centre on Jenners Road and takes runners past Digbeth, round Calthorpe Park to the world-famous Edgbaston Cricket Ground which marks the halfway point of the route.

Runners then pass back through Calthorpe Park and aim for the infamous Bullring which marks the 9km point, before a final 1km push to Jennens Road for a grandstand finish.

Can I still enter the race?

Entry slots are still available for those looking to take part in the Great Birmingham 10K run 2022.

The cost of entering the race is £24.80 and this price includes many extras, including Bespoke Finishers Medal, an exclusive finishers t-shirt, pre-training advice and motivation, and access to the post event finisher village with activations and giveaways.

This amount is a twenty per cent discount from the regular price, and is only available until 30 April.

After the event, you’ll also (in addition to a sense of pride and maybe some bragging rights) get an official event day photo which is available to view and purchase just days after the race as well as your official result.

This should be ready shortly after you cross the finish line.

To enter the event, visit the Great Birmingham race website.

Can I run the race for charity?

You may be able to run the Great Birmingham 10K for one of a range of charities.

To do this, you can agree a sponsorship amount which you will raise for your selected charity.

For the full list of charities you can raise money for, visit the official website of the event.

Will there be road closures?

To ensure the safety of runners, spectators, and everyone involved with organising the race, a number of roads will be closed throughout race day.

Jenners Road, which has both the start and finish line of the 10K event, will be closed between 4am and 7pm on Sunday, 1 May.
