The 30-year-old from Sheldon, Solihull will be reunited with American singer “Breezy” at the event’s sell-out VIP tent - just two miles from his family home.

Russke last played with the singer at a gig at the Sutton VIP Club in Barcelona in 2015 and can’t wait to be reunited on the same line up.

This will be Brown’s first gig in the UK in 12 years having been slapped with a travel ban following allegations of an assault charge in the US on his then girlfriend – pop star Rhianna.

Are there any other Birmingham DJs at Wireless?

Russke – who first started djing as a 15-year old in his bedroom, turning pro at 22, has been asked to recommend a host of other DJs for the three day event which means he’s been able to invite some of the city’s best known club DJs to join him at the VIP village at Wireless.

DJs Dom Bryan, Shaq Five, Silk, Jamma, Connor G and Double Impact will also play at the festival which Russke believes will be one of the best festivals Birmingham has ever seen.

Russke is also excited to be playing his new single with Birmingham rapper Jaykae at the festival this weekend.

He said: “Wireless have done an incredible job bringing this event back to the Midlands and these boys have been my friends on the club circuit for years so to be able to share this opportunity with them is going to be fun.

“Covid really hit our industry and so many of the boys lost their income and could only play on live streams from home, they like many DJ’s deserve this break now.”

How did DJ Russke’s holiday with Jack Grealish go?

Russke is no stranger to headlines having been papped earlier this summer during a lad’s holiday to Las Vegas with his good friend, England and former Aston Villa star Jack Grealish.

Russke is still furious the national media tried to hijack the trip with stories that Grealish – the Premier League’s most expensive player – was playing away whilst abroad.

“Jack is the most down to earth person you’ll ever meet and we were just good friends having a holiday to celebrate Jack winning a Premier League medal in his first season at the Ethiad.

“The press seem to think he’s not allowed a life even though he’d worked hard all season and deserved it. He went to City to win the title and was so thrilled to get a medal having overcome a few adversities last season. He was just enjoying a break and the stories were sadly and grossly exaggerated.”

Russke is scheduled to play at the World Cup in Qatar later this year where he hopes Jack and the England team will be triumphant.

It has already been a busy summer for the in demand Russke who has a residencies in Ibiza, Marbella and Dubai.

“Just last week I made six flights in two days to make gigs in Marbella, Amsterdam,  Cyprus,  Athens and Malaga,” he said.

“Thankfully the flight delays and airport queues were kind to me or it would have been impossible, now it’s time to play a little closer to home.”
