Excitement is building for the 2022 Solihull Half Marathon and 10K run this weekend.

The half marathon and 10k run gets underway this Sunday (14 August), with around 1,000 people expected to take part in the race. A number of road closures will be in place while the half marathon is underway.

The half marathon route starts and finishes in Solihull town centre on New Road. The route also takes in Knowle town centre, a stretch of countryside and Malvern Park.

The route for the 10k run is 5k - which can be completed twice - starts and finishes at the North Sports Centre athletics track. The course then follows the roads in the Chelmsley Wood & Fordbridge area, past Meriden Park & Babbs Mill Nature Reserve.

Solihull Half Marathon road closures

Closure Period: 7.30am – 1pm anticipated timings

  • New Road - from Church Hill Road to B4102 Warwick Road

Closure Period: 8.30am to 12.10pm

  • Widney Manor Road - from Hillfield Road to Widney Road roundabout

Closure period: 8.45am - 11.45am

  • Smiths Lane - from Widney Manor Road to Browns Lane
  • Browns Lane - from Smiths Lane to Lady Byron Lane
  • Tilehouse Green Lane - from Browns Lane to Longdon Road

Closure Period 8:40am - 11:35am anticipated timings

  • Longdon Road - from Tilehouse Green Lane to Lodge Road
  • Lodge Road - from Longdon Road to A4141 Warwick Road/High Street
  • A4141 Warwick Road - from Lodge Road to B4101 Kenilworth Road

Closure Period 08:45am – 10:40am

  • Hampton Road/Knowle Road - from A4141 Warwick Road to Barston Lane

Closure Period 08:50am – 11am

  • Barston Lane - from Knowle Road to Hob Lane
  • Hob Lane - from Barston Lane to Elvers Green Lane

Closure Period 08.55am – 11:30am

  • Browns Lane - from Moorfield Avenue to Smith’s Lane

The council said these sections may be opened early in the event that all runners have passed a section but may also be subject to delay in the event of an unplanned emergency or incident which would require the road to be closed beyond the time specified.
