Residents in the West Midlands grew up in school hearing it, and it was made popular worldwide thanks to the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, UB40, Jasper Carrott and the Peaky Blinders series.
Yes, the Birmingham accent may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s one of the most distinctive dialects in the UK, and Brummies are proud of their defining accent.
But, of course, not everyone in the city has a Birmingham accent. So where exactly are you most likely to hear a classic Brummie accent?

1. Birmingham Bullring markets
There are plenty of stalls by the Bullring from Tuesday to Monday. The traditional city markets have been running for decades with stalls selling fruit, veggies, home goods and more. The markets were mentioned by a few times by some of our readers as a location you’ll hear a proper accent
2. 50 bus route
According to one of our readers, you’re likely to hear a Brummie accent on the 50, which goes to Druids Heath, via Highgate, Moseley, and Kings Heath
3. Villa Park
Villa Park was mentioned a number of times by our readers. Birmingham’s most successful club represent a large proportion of the city and you’ll definitely hear the Brummie accent in and around Villa Park on matchdays.
4. St. Andrew’s
