It’s arguably one of the most romantic destinations in Birmingham, especially at night. Dim lighting coupled with panoramic views of the dark sky and sparkling city lights beaming through the tallest floor to ceiling windows, it’s a fabulous place to spend quality time with your loved one. It’s an established highlight in Birmingham and this Valentine’s Day there’s much to love about Marco’s - including that fabulous balcony bar, the perfect place to share a romantic tipple while looking out across the city.

3) Cosy underground drinks and food at Bacchus Bar, Burlington Arcade, New Street
This renowned bar underneath the Burlington Hotel is the perfect place to snuggle up away from the chilly winter weather. It has been recommended by our readers as a romantic destination to enjoy a drink or two - with or without food - for Valentine’s Day.
You may be surprised to learn that Bacchus bar is one of the oldest pubs in Brum - with the street above it dating back to 1398. It’s full of eclectic themed rooms to explore with fascinating Greek and Roman mosaics through to suits of armour and mediaeval archways.

4) Love life at Cherry Reds Cafe Bar on New Street
Cherry Reds responded to one of our social media shout outs for Valentine’s Day recommendations to tell us how they could be the perfect place for your celebrations.
The popular independent bar has a top reputation for its cosy, welcoming interiors and great food and drink options, with plenty of choice for craft beer - along with freshly blended milkshakes with real ice cream and freshly ground coffee.
Apparently it’s a popular spot for young love, with the modest bar saying: “Not sure we’d top the romance list, but we often hear people saying they had their first date here.If that’s true for anyone reading this, I hope it ended well!”

5) Live DJ and Chinese feast with TULUÄ at Lulu Wild restaurant and cocktail bar in Brindleyplace
Taking place on February this interesting event is being run at the ultra glitzy venue with music, food and fashion brand TULUÄ.
Organisers are promising: “This one’s going to be special!” And they are expecting it to be another sell out date. Lulu Wild is renowned for its spectacular Chinese dishes and cocktails and DJs, so it’s no wonder. Only catch is you must be a TULUÄ member. Hide AdNot for from New Street Station, you will find this established Italian restaurant which has been recommended by a BirminghamWorld reader. It’s a charming, authentic Italian restaurant and it’s going all out to attract couples looking for romance this Valelentine’s Day with a three course menu priced at £44.95 per person.
The costs are clearly labelled on the website. Starters include Zuppa Del Giorno and Carpaccio Di Bersaola and Gamberoni Fritti Al Profumo Di Sesamo (we did say it was authentic! English translations are provided though). Mains include pizza, Tagliata Di Manzo and Lasagne Caserecce. With desserts including chocolate fudge cake and homemade pannacotta.
The restaurant said: “At La Galleria, we pride ourselves on providing a varied menu of freshly prepared dishes with the finest Italian ingredients that will tempt all palates. 7) Beats and eats at Fumo on Waterloo Street
A firm favourite for amazing Italian dining with Venetian tapas, pastas and scrumptious pizzas alongside fabulous cocktails and Champagne - and a great reputation for late night entertainment, Fumo is definitely a destination worth considering for your Valentine’s Day celebrations - on the day itself or the weekend before and after.

8) Next level cocktails and mouthwatering bites at Gaucho on Colmore Row
This slick downstairs restaurant is always a treat to visit with expert service, and the most memorable meals, with its Argentinian steaks the star show. The bar area is always nice to pop into as well.
And they’re really pushing the boat out this Valentine’s Day with some dedicated love potion cocktails in a collaboration with Cointreau and a special deal on premium romantic booths for couples, which include a bottle of Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Brut Rosé and tempting chocolate truffles to finish included in the £185 booking. 12) Pretty prices for dinner and drinks at The Botanist on Temple Street
Renowned for its cocktails and hanging kebags, this venue is offering a delicious deal for drinks and food for this Valentine’s Day so you can enjoy romance with your loved one without breaking the bank.
The Botanist has launched a Valentine’s Date Night Menu for two made up of three courses for £60 - including a cocktail each. The menu has been designed for savouring the moment together and begins with a refreshing strawberry and elderflower mojito upon arrival, followed by a whole melted camembert baked in a sourdough loaf with sweet onion marmalade and crispy garlic croutons to start.
Valentine’s Day at The Botanist wouldn’t be complete without those three little words, ‘famous hanging kebabs’. For main course, the sharing kebab includes either chicken, lamb kofta and Thai red prawn, or the vegetarian option of crispy halloumi, teriyaki mushroom and vegan meatball, on a triple-skewer rack. Both are served with coleslaw, houmous and flatbread, perfect for two to tuck in to.

16) Visit one of Britain’s most treasured art galleries and wonder at the Victorian Radicals at BMAG

Visitors will be able to marvel at the Victorian Radicals exhibition which has returned from a successful tour in the US with a spotlight on multiple cultural movements from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The exhibition is called Victorian Radicals and it showcases Birmingham’s Pre-Raphaelite and Arts and Crafts Collections.

It opened following much anticipation before Christmas and has welcomed many Brummies who have sped along the simulation tracks and enjoyed watch parties. It’s the place to be for video games fans, that’s for sure - with a host of the latest games available - and their first ever adults-only Laser Quest arriving from Friday, February 16.
