Walking through the Coffin Works in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter is an intriguing experience, that’s for sure.
From a pair of neatly kept shoes to an expensive coast, casually left hanging in the cupboard, you really do feel like you’ve stepped back in time to a live factory.

Hide AdBut the renowned Newman Brothers business shut down in 1998, and thanks to the hard work of Birmingham Conservation Trust this Brummie industrial gem has been preserved for all to see in present times.
This is where some of the world’s finest coffin furniture was created, including fittings for the funerals of Winston Churchill, Prince Diana and the Queen Mother.
These days, in addition to tours, it hosts cocktail parties, candlelit tours and there’s a festive market planned for December 3.
